Naomi Achonu

Naomi Achonu, Treasurer

Naomi Achonu is a sophomore at John Jay majoring in Law and Society (B.A) and minoring in Digital Media and Journalism. Other programs she is affiliated with at John Jay include Law Society, ASA, and BSU. She is a very creative and hardworking individual who currently spends her free time interning at a recording studio to gain knowledge about the music industry and hopes to pursue a career as an entertainment lawyer.

Achonu's favorite quote is by a Nigerian playwright Wole Soyinka and it states, “No one is rich enough to buy yesterday but if you hustle hard tomorrow could be yours.”

This quote is near and dear to her heart as it is a quote her father references regularly. She believes there is no point in dwelling on your past mistakes, it is best to learn from them and apply your lessons to the future. Her favorite story on the Sentinel site is called “The State of Club Life” written by Lauren Braithwaite because it was the initial writing piece that piqued her interest in club activity at her college and had lots of opinions on the matter as she was also featured in the article as well. Naomi is very excited to join the team and has hopes of popularizing the newspaper amongst her peers and hope that one day it becomes the #1 source of information regarding campus life in the John Jay Community!
