Puerto Rico was left in a devastated state after it was hit by Hurricane Maria on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. ‘As an initiative to help rebuild the US Territory, the New York City government announced that from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m daily, approximately 17 firehouses and EMS stations will be accepting essential items for the people of Puerto Rico. The following items are prioritized:  (1) Diapers, (2) Baby Food, (3) Batteries, (4) First Aid Supplies, and (5) Feminine Hygiene Products.

The government’s website states that at this time, only the listed items will be accepted as donations and such items must not be, “second hand, perishable, and must not contain liquids.”

New York City’s Mayor, Bill de Blasio, stands in solidarity with Puerto Rico and has proposed to help in every way possible.
